For whatever reason, I was super into Starbucks White Chocolate Mochas this fall. I’m not a fan of the Pumpkin Spice Latte and I felt the season deserved a little something more than my usual Vanilla Latte. However, we all know that the specialty drinks tend to be unfairly more expensive than coffee and I knew I needed to cut back on some expenses. Luckily, Andy bought me an espresso machine for Valentine’s Day a few years ago and so all I really needed was some flavored sauce – everything else I had at home.

Not only am I trying to cut back on coffee shop treats, but I’m also trying to cut back on calories and balance my macronutrients. This Vanilla Plant Protein Milk from Bolthouse Farms helps me stay on top of my protein intake (it has 10g of protein!) while eliminating extra fats found in whole milk (which is what most yummy Starbucks drinks are made of). I’ve tried a lot of different non-dairy milks for my coffees: almond, coconut, cashew, soy. I’ve read that soy is terrible for women’s hormones and I don’t like the taste of almond, coconut or cashew, but this milk, made from peas, is seriously good. It doesn’t quite froth like regular milk or soy milk, but I don’t really dig the foam anyways. Technically it just takes up room in your cup!

At-Home White Chocolate Mocha

2 pumps vanilla syrup (I buy mine at World Market)
3 squirts of white chocolate mocha sauce (found at my local Kroger or Walmart)
1.5 cups of Bolthose Farms Plant Protein Milk (Vanilla or unflavored)
1 espresso pod (I use Cafe Turino as a replacement for expensive Nespresso pods, found here on Amazon!)

  1. Pump 2-3 pumps of vanilla (or white chocolate) syrup into the bottom of your espresso glass
  2. Brew 1 espresso pod
  3. While brewing the espresso, pour 1.5 cups of your protein milk into a frother and froth on heat
  4. Squeeze 3 squirts (about 2 tablespoons) of white chocolate sauce into the bottom of your coffee mug
  5. Pour hot espresso/syrup mixture into the your white chocolate sauce mug. Pour frothed milk on top.
  6. Enjoy! (You can add white chocolate sauce to taste.)

I was gifted the Bolthouse Farms Plant Protein Milk for this recipe but all opinions are my own!
